Afrobeats star Asake has been recognized as the most-streamed artist on Spotify in Nigeria, according to data released by the streaming service.
The announcement comes as Spotify marks five years of operation in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana.
In a statement, the company said, “Celebrating 5 years of Spotify in Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana, powered by you.”
Asake outperformed other prominent Nigerian artists such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, and Seyi Vibez.
His popular song “Remember” was the most-streamed track in Nigeria, while “Lonely at the Top” also ranked among the top five.
Spotify acknowledged its listeners for contributing to its growth, noting that Nigerian users have created over 25 million playlists in the last five years.

The average age of Nigerian listeners is 26, indicating the significant impact of a young, tech-savvy audience.
Asake’s rise to fame is attributed to his unique blend of street pop, mainstream Afrobeats, and lively dance tracks that have gained popularity on platforms like TikTok.
His album “Lungu Boy” made history as the first African project to reach the top of the global Spotify debut chart, further solidifying his position as a key player in the Afrobeats genre.
As Spotify continues to expand in the region, Asake’s recognition highlights the growing global impact of Nigerian music and the sustained prominence of Afrobeats on digital platforms.
