Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have killed a suspected kidnapper and recovered weapons during a raid on a criminal hideout in Song Local Government Area of the state.
The operation followed the abduction of two residents in the council area, prompting an immediate security response from the command.
In a statement issued over the weekend, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, ordered the swift deployment of officers from the Song Divisional Police headquarters, supported by local hunters, to carry out a rescue mission.
According to the statement, security operatives traced the suspects to a remote location in Maigero, linking parts of Maigero, Song and Sandau villages.
On reaching the hideout, the team reportedly came under heavy gunfire from the kidnappers, resulting in a fierce exchange.
One of the suspects, identified as Sada of Maigero Village, was killed during the gun battle, while other members of the gang escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.

Police recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines and 83 rounds of live ammunition from the scene.
However, one of the kidnapped victims was reportedly killed by the abductors during the confrontation.
Also, a local hunter who assisted the police operation sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
The commissioner of police has directed the crack squad in Yola, the state capital to take over the investigation and intensify efforts to rescue the remaining victim and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
