The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has officially unveiled its Calendar of Events for the competitive season from January to September 2026.
This detailed and strategically organized program aims to bolster domestic competitions, promote grassroots development, and enhance Nigeria’s presence on the continental stage.
In a statement made by Godspower Odedede, Chairman of the Media Committee, the 2026 calendar showcases the Federation’s renewed dedication to excellence, inclusivity, youth development, and international competitiveness in both indoor and beach volleyball.
The season kicks off with the nationwide registration of clubs and players in January, emphasizing compliance with eligibility standards and structured participation within the national framework.
Key national tournaments are scheduled for February and March, including: Super Cup 2026, Presidential Cup, Beach Volleyball, and Nigeria Police Games. Others are: National Open/Star Tour and Premier League Phase I.
These events are designed to enhance talent discovery, provide consistent competition opportunities, and ensure technical standardization across different regions.
The 2026 roadmap also highlights a strong focus on continental and international participation. Nigerian clubs and national teams are set to compete in: CAVB Zone 3 Club Championship, African Clubs Championship (Men and Women),
Zone 3 Nations Cup, Africa Beach Continental U21 Championship and Nations Cup (Men and Women).
These competitions will not only improve Nigeria’s ranking and visibility but also expose athletes and officials to high-level competitive standards.
Beach volleyball will receive significant attention in 2026, with numerous national tours, youth championships, and continental qualifiers planned. The Federation is committed to enhancing beach volleyball infrastructure and technical expertise across the country.
The Nigeria Premier Volleyball League will be conducted in two phases, ensuring clubs have ongoing competitive opportunities throughout the season. The Federation will also take part in the National Sports Festival, further advancing volleyball development at the state and grassroots levels.
To enhance officiating standards, the Federation will organize technical and referee development courses in collaboration with international organizations, ensuring that Nigerian referees and officials remain competitive on a global scale.
The 2026 calendar is not just a list of events; it serves as a strategic framework for ongoing growth, institutional strengthening, youth engagement, and international competitiveness.
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation invites corporate partners, state associations, stakeholders, and the sporting community to work together to ensure a successful 2026 volleyball season.
