Major stakeholders in poultry and livestock production across Nigeria and beyond are set to converge on Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for a landmark industry gathering aimed at transforming the nation’s protein economy.

The Ibom International Poultry and Livestock Expo 2026 will hold from March 17 to 19, 2026, at the prestigious Ibom Hall.

The three-day international exhibition is expected to attract no fewer than 1,500 exhibitors, alongside policymakers, investors, agribusiness operators, researchers, and equipment manufacturers from within and outside the country.

The event is being organised by Ibom Poultry and Livestock Exhibition Ltd, with a strong focus on innovation, investment mobilisation, and value-chain coordination as key drivers for strengthening Nigeria’s protein security and agribusiness competitiveness.

Speaking during a press briefing, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Victor Akai, described the expo as a strategic intervention designed to reposition Nigeria’s poultry and livestock sectors for sustainable growth.

According to Akai, the event will bring together policymakers, practitioners, farm operators, processors, and equipment manufacturers for high-level roundtable discussions centred on unlocking opportunities within the protein economy.

“This is an international exhibition. We are expecting at least one thousand five hundred exhibitors,” he said.

“We have already started receiving calls from companies and investors who want to showcase their machines, products, and services. The interest has been overwhelming.”

He noted that the expo will feature product exhibitions, live demonstrations of modern farming technologies, investment matchmaking sessions, technical workshops, and policy dialogues aimed at addressing industry bottlenecks such as feed costs, biosecurity challenges, financing gaps, and inefficient value chains.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Agric Committee, Prof Okon Ansa, emphasized that the event is designed to go beyond a conventional trade fair.
“This expo is not an exhibition for display, but a solution platform for Nigeria’s protein security and agribusiness competitiveness,” Prof. Ansa stated.

He explained that the gathering would create a structured environment where investment meets innovation, policy aligns with practice, and productivity replaces inefficiency.

“We are creating a space where stakeholders can collectively address systemic challenges in the poultry and livestock sectors.

“Our goal is to catalyse practical solutions that will reduce Nigeria’s protein deficit, enhance food security, and generate employment across the value chain,” he added.

The organisers expressed optimism that the event would stimulate partnerships between farmers, technology providers, financial institutions, and government agencies, ultimately leading to improved productivity and sustainable sector growth.

Th Committee assured intending participants and visitors of adequate security and seamless logistics throughout the event.

According to the organisers, all relevant security agencies have been duly notified and are working in collaboration to ensure a safe and conducive environment for exhibitors and guests.

With preparations already in top gear and growing interest from international and local participants, the Ibom International Poultry and Livestock Expo 2026 is shaping up to be one of the largest agribusiness gatherings in Nigeria’s recent history, positioning Akwa Ibom State as a hub for agricultural innovation and investment.
