Senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has responded to criticism following viral social media videos highlighting his luxury watch collection. The cleric addressed the controversy during a church service, insisting that the clips circulating online show only a small part of what he owns.
Pastor David Ibiyeomie told his congregation that many of the timepieces in his possession were gifts from supporters, including one watch he said is valued at two million dollars. According to him, he has not worn a large number of the watches, and the pieces seen in online videos represent only a fraction of his collection.
He explained that the watches were not personal purchases but gifts presented to him by individuals who felt led to do so. Recounting one instance, the pastor said a young man approached him and claimed he had been instructed by God to present his pastor with luxury watches. Ibiyeomie maintained that such gestures were acts of appreciation connected to his ministry work.

The remarks come at a time when discussions about wealth, lifestyle and accountability among religious leaders in Nigeria continue to trend online. The display of luxury items by prominent clerics often sparks debate across social media platforms, with supporters defending their leaders and critics questioning the optics.
Pastor David Ibiyeomie emphasized that the watches are symbols of gratitude from those he has helped through his ministry, rather than items acquired for personal indulgence. His comments have further fueled conversations about faith, prosperity and public perception in Nigeria’s religious space.
