Popular socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has declared that he will campaign against the former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, in the 2027 general elections, Peter Obi.

The nightlife entrepreneur made the statement during an interactive session with followers on Instagram, where he addressed questions about his recent political alignment and involvement with the City Boy Movement, a support group backing President Bola Tinubu.

Chief Priest’s position marks a notable shift, as he was perceived to have supported Obi during the 2023 presidential election.

Responding to a follower who asked whether he would actively campaign against Obi, he said:
“Yes, I hope that’s not a crime because I worked for Obi in the last election, even as a special adviser to an APC governor.”

During the exchange, some critics referenced his past encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), suggesting inconsistency in his political stance.

However, Chief Priest dismissed the criticism, arguing that investigations by the anti-graft agency are not unusual for high-profile individuals in Nigeria.

“If you haven’t been to the EFCC in Nigeria, you haven’t made it,” he remarked.

The conversation also extended to issues concerning development in the South-East region.

Chief Priest urged individuals to focus on tangible contributions rather than online criticism.

“Be quiet and support whoever you want; as for Biafra, how many developments have you contributed to the South-East?” he stated.
