The wife of popular Nigerian actor and comedian Victor Nwaogu, known as Nkubi, Vivian has stirred controversy online by recounting a disturbing experience with a doctor.
In a widely circulated video on social media, Vivian shared a comment her doctor allegedly made during a routine pregnancy ultrasound.
Her story has ignited discussions about discrimination and the treatment of people with dwarfism in Nigeria.
In the video, Vivian explained: “After I finished my scan and handed it to the doctor, he asked if anyone in my family had a history of dwarfism.”
“I told him my husband did, and the doctor suggested that I should have considered going to my brother-in-law, getting pregnant outside of my marriage, or even using a sperm donor.”
She expressed her shock at the suggestion, stating: “That’s what a doctor told me; individuals with dwarfism are not treated fairly in this country at all.”
Responses on X (formerly Twitter) included some who supported the doctor, claiming it was sound medical advice.
@Olinoel4 commented that “for the sake of humanity, laws should prevent certain individuals from having children. Not everyone should be a parent. Some people are not genetically fit to have kids.
“They should adopt instead of having children and passing on serious genetic disorders.”

Another X user, @Loadedplug stated that “honestly, the doctor gave wise advice. I know why I say ‘wise.’ Ninety percent of those criticizing the doctor would never consider marrying a dwarf or someone with physical challenges. The online world is different from the real world.”
@Otunmuri mentioned: “Aunty Ajara from Nollywood just passed away. She was a dwarf too. She had complications during her pregnancy due to her size (according to reports), and she was definitely impregnated by a non-dwarf.
“Nkubi’s doctor was trying to prevent future issues for the unborn child, or you can choose to remain childless. It’s tough, but true.”
@Levesse commented: “The doctor might have phrased his advice poorly, and perhaps it was poorly timed as well. However, it was honest and straightforward advice. Dwarfs can marry each other if they find love, but they should not reproduce. I repeat, they must not have children!”
