The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has received a major boost toward the completion of its ultramodern Congress Hall project with the donation of 600 bags of cement by an indigenous construction firm, Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited.
The donation was formally flagged off in Abuja during a brief handover ceremony supervised by Junias Akaito and Kolade Olaoye, with the delivery of the first batch of 300 bags.
Stakeholders at the event described the gesture as a significant step forward in the council’s efforts to provide a befitting facility for journalists in the nation’s capital.
Receiving the donated cement bags, Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Grace Ike, commended the Chief Executive Officer of Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited, Christian Olatunji, for standing in solidarity with the media and contributing to infrastructure that would enhance journalism practice and professional engagement.
She described the intervention as timely and impactful, explaining that the proposed Congress Hall would function as a centre for training, professional development, welfare coordination, and constructive interaction between journalists and key stakeholders.
“This donation reflects strong confidence in the Nigerian media and the crucial role journalists play in society.
“The NUJ FCT Council remains committed to delivering a functional Congress Hall that will serve as a hub for training, innovation, and the overall welfare of our members,” she said.
Ike assured the donor that the materials would be judiciously utilised, stressing the council’s resolve to complete a durable project that would serve present and future generations of journalists.

Representatives of Bespoke Urban Luxury Limited explained that Christian Olatunji’s decision to support the project was driven by the company’s appreciation of the media’s role in national development and democratic growth.
The firm said the donation aligns with its corporate social responsibility agenda, which prioritises community development and institutional capacity building.
Members of the NUJ FCT Council who witnessed the handover praised the gesture and urged other corporate bodies, well-meaning individuals, and development partners to support the completion of the project.
Upon completion, the NUJ FCT ultramodern Congress Hall is expected to house offices, training halls, and modern facilities that will significantly strengthen journalism practice in the FCT.
The council renewed its call for continued support from government agencies and the private sector to ensure the timely completion of the landmark project.
