A former Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Apostle Eugene Ogu, has raised the alarm over moves by President Bola Tinubu and his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to derail the country’s democracy.
The cleric has therefore, petitioned the United States government and the United Nations, calling for sanctions against members of the country’s National Assembly for complicity in the act.
Early this week, the Senate passed the Electoral Amendment Bill, but rejected the e-transmission of results in real-time across the country, a development that has attracted widespread condemnation.
Apostle Ogu, who is the General Overseer of the Abundant Life Mission, described the action by the Senate as a direct threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
In a petition dated Thursday, February 5, 2026, the cleric called on the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and the international community to rise up and save Nigeria from the hands of those he described as “anti-masses political leaders”.
Apostle Ogu warned “political contractors in the National Assembly” to desist from setting the country on fire as any attempt to derail constitutional democracy would be firmly resisted by Nigerians.
He asserted that only a free and fair transparent legal electoral process with a compulsory electronic transmission of election results will restore the confidence of Nigerians in the electoral system.
The cleric alleged that the refusal of the Senator Godswill Akpabio-led Senate to pass the e-transmission of election result in real time ”is an invitation to rig the 2027 presidential election and fraudulently manipulate the will of the people”.

“I call on the international community:to speak out now and do the needful to compel the National Assembly to pass the electronic transmission of election results in good time, into law.
“The international community should show sufficient commitment in the well-being of Nigeria by compelling the Nigerian government and the National Assembly to pass the bill into law, as it will be the greatest gift and contribution any country can give to Nigeria,” he said.
Apostle Ogu appealed to foreign embassies not to honour the documentation of any politician by allowing them to travel out of the country for any purpose until they respect the will of Nigerians by passing the bill.
He cautioned Akpabio, and the leadership of the National Assembly not to toy with Nigerians as the aftermath would be impossible to contend with
“President Tinubu must understand that the greatest hero of Nigeria will not be who ruled the country, but who gave Nigeria a free and fair electoral process.
“I commend all the senators who stood up for the electronic transmission, especially those who came out publicly to express their support for the will of Nigerians,” the cleric added.
He called on the National Assembly members not to allow anyone to use them against the will of the people.
