The police has announced Asaba, Delta State, as host of the 15th biennial Police Games 2026, scheduled to hold from February 14 to 21 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
Tagged “Asaba 2026 – The Niger,” the Games will run under the theme: “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action,” with the slogan “Discipline, Dignity and Dedication.”
The event is expected to be the largest police sports festival in the country’s history and the next biggest sporting event after the National Sports Festival.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, will serve as chief host, while the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, is the host governor.

Over 6,000 athletes and coaches drawn from the 17 police zonal commands and the Force Headquarters are expected to compete across a record 35 sporting events, including athletics, football, boxing, basketball, cricket, golf, swimming, table tennis, wrestling, weightlifting, martial arts, shooting sports, rugby, polo, and other emerging and traditional disciplines.
Police authorities said the Games are designed not only to promote physical fitness and competitive excellence among officers, but also to reinforce professionalism, teamwork and discipline beyond routine policing duties.
With Asaba billed as the “Big Heart” city, organisers say the 2026 edition will deliver high-level competition, cultural display and national attention, positioning Delta State as a major hub for elite sporting events.
