Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has dismissed claims that he is estranged from his children with his first wife, May Edochie, insisting that he remains actively involved in their lives despite ongoing divorce proceedings.
Speculation about a breakdown in his relationship with his children has intensified in recent months, fueled by his absence from family-related posts on social media. The rumours have gained traction amid reports that the divorce case between the estranged couple has been delayed by disagreements over key terms, including remarriage rights and allegations of infidelity.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Edochie described the allegations as misleading and detached from reality, stressing that he maintains regular communication with his children and continues to support them financially and emotionally. He cited recent developments, including his second son’s admission into a university and subsequent matriculation, as evidence of their continued bond.
The actor faulted social media narratives surrounding his private life, arguing that much of what is written online is speculative and far removed from what truly happens within families. According to him, public perception often reflects only a fraction of reality, while the most important details remain private.

Edochie clarified that his decision to stop sharing photos or updates about his children is not a sign of abandonment but the result of a court order linked to the divorce case. He explained that the directive restricts him from posting or speaking publicly about the children in order to safeguard their wellbeing.
He maintained that many online claims about his family are exaggerated, noting that social media users often create narratives that spiral out of control without factual grounding. Edochie added that he has chosen restraint, rather than public rebuttals, as the responsible approach while legal proceedings are ongoing.
The actor’s comments appear aimed at calming public speculation and reaffirming his role as a present and involved father, even as his family matters continue to play out in court.
