Nottingham Forest has reached an agreement to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega for a fee that could reach £500,000.
Sean Dyche’s team is also pursuing Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, initially looking to bring him in on loan with a potential permanent deal.
The 26-year-old has earned 33 caps for Italy and has made 19 appearances for Inter this season.
Ortega, a 33-year-old German, is currently the third-choice goalkeeper at Manchester City, behind Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford.
He is out of contract this summer and has not played for Pep Guardiola’s team this season.
Forest’s need for a goalkeeper arises from a knee injury to John Victor, which will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
The club had previously discussed a move for Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa but has since shifted their focus to Ortega.

Since joining City in 2022, Ortega has played 56 matches and was instrumental in their Premier League title victory in 2024.
Last season, he made 22 appearances, including in the Club World Cup in July and the FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace.
Currently, Forest is competing in the Europa League play-offs and sits 17th in the Premier League.
They have already secured a loan deal for Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca and had a £35 million offer rejected by Crystal Palace for striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
