The Kebbi State Police Command has announced what it describes as a “breakthrough” in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry, claiming the rescue of two abducted individuals and the arrest of one suspect following operations in Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, in a statement on Friday, framed the operation as evidence of the command’s “resolve to deny criminal elements safe haven,” a claim often repeated by authorities despite the region’s persistent insecurity.
The police account noted that the first victim was rescued in Kalgo Local Government Area “without any injury,” a success they attributed to “prompt response” and “effective synergy” with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
It stated that one suspect was arrested and that investigations are ongoing to track down other gang members.
In a separate incident barely 24 hours later, police in the Kamba Division of Dandi Local Government Area, said they responded to the abduction of one Garba Bachal, from Maigwaza Village.
The police narrative claims their “swift response” forced the kidnappers to abandon their victim before fleeing. The rescued Bachal was reportedly taken to Maigwaza Hospital for medical evaluation.

SP Usman stated that security surveillance has been “intensified” in the area to prevent a recurrence, adding that “our monitoring teams remain on ground, and we have strengthened patrols and intelligence gathering to ensure that criminal elements do not regroup.”
Residents in the affected communities were reported to have lauded the security agencies’ rapid response, noting it prevented prolonged hostage situations.
The Kebbi State Police Command reiterated its commitment to “intelligence-driven and proactive policing” and assured residents of “sustained operations” to dismantle kidnapping networks.
It appealed to the public for credible and timely information, stressing the need for community cooperation.
