The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Students Wing is planning a one million-man march in support of President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi for their accomplishments in revitalizing Nigeria’s critical road infrastructure.

The students wing said within a mere two years and six months of the Tinubu administration, the nation has witnessed a transformative surge in road construction and rehabilitation.

The group stated that this resurgence is a testament to the focused leadership and decisive action of Tinubu and the diligent stewardship of Senator Umahi.

It added that the improvements in the road networks across the nation, demonstrates a dedication to the betterment of all Nigerians and signifies a pivotal shift from the dismal state of affairs that preceded the administration.

The students noted that as a demonstration of profound appreciation and support, the students wing of Ohanaeze is initiating a nationwide mobilization for a one million-man solidarity march, scheduled to take place in Abuja and throughout the South East on February 4-5, 2026, respectively.

The march according to the students’ group will serve as a clear affirmation of the Igbo students gratitude for the Tinubu/Umahi commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians through the delivery of high-quality road networks.

This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Ugochukwu Eduna, president students’ wing and Miss Olumachukwu Thomas, secretary students’ wing and made available to journalists.

“We celebrate the timely realization of the first phase of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project in 2025, which provided much needed relief to commuters during the December 2025 Christmas and New Year’s festival seasons,” they said.

The students’ group added that the ongoing construction of the Badagry-Sokoto Super Highway, the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, the East-West Expressway, the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene Expressway, and numerous other vital projects, underscore the federal government’s unwavering dedication to infrastructural development across the nation.

“It is our historical evidence that prior to the advent of the Tinubu administration in 2023, Nigerian roads were a national disgrace, transforming into deathtraps that claimed countless lives and inflicted immeasurable economic losses,” the students added.
