The Adamawa State Judicial Service Commission has approved the conversion and appointment of six court registrars to the rank of magistrates as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s lower judiciary.
The decision was taken at the commission’s 186th meeting held last week under the leadership of the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman.
A statement issued on Monday, January 26, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the commission, Christie Tarfa, named the officers elevated as Sa’adatu Abubakar, Hammanjoda Abubakar, Amina Talba, Asta Michael, Kwaji Musa, and Happy Nzadon.
According to the statement, the conversion from registrar to magistrate represents a significant career progression within the judicial system.

While court registrars are primarily responsible for the administrative functions of the courts, magistrates preside over cases, make rulings, and deliver judgments in magistrates’ courts.
The commission noted that the appointments are expected to reduce workload pressures in the lower courts and enhance the efficiency of justice delivery across the state.
The statement added that the newly appointed magistrates are expected to be sworn in and deployed to various judicial divisions in the coming days.
