The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers in a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest followed credible intelligence received by the police, leading to an operation carried out on January 24, 2026.
The raid, conducted in collaboration with local hunters, targeted a suspected criminal hideout in a remote part of Balma Village.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were identified as Shaibu Mohammadu, and Ja’o Bawa.
During the operation, police recovered one locally fabricated revolver rifle, two mobile phones, and charms.
The police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in a series of kidnapping activities within Song and neighbouring communities.
The statement said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the suspected kidnapping syndicate who are currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, commended the collaboration between the police and members of the community, describing the arrest as a significant step in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
