Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reassured his administration’s commitment to the welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and the continued support of the scheme’s programmes in the state.
The governor gave the assurance on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of 2026 Batch A, Stream I corps members posted to Rivers State, held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Tai Local Government Area.
Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, Governor Fubara stressed that national growth and development depend largely on the effective harnessing of the potential of young people, whom he described as future leaders of the country.

He assured the corps members that the ongoing renovation and upgrading of facilities at the orientation camp would be completed promptly. According to him, additional infrastructure would also be provided to meet the growing number of corps members being deployed to the state each year.
Earlier in his address, the NYSC State Coordinator in Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, commended the governor for approving the construction of a new 1,000-capacity hostel to improve accommodation for corps members.
Oleghe disclosed that 2,638 corps members, comprising 1,007 males and 1,631 females, had successfully completed their registration, while more than 300 others were still undergoing the process.
The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the Oath of Allegiance, which was conducted by Hon. Justice Chika Mini, representing the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice Chibuzor Amadi.
