Samuel Oredipe, has become the new chairman of the Bayelsa State Athletics Association.
He takes over from Mr.. Godwin Oghogho, whose tenure has since elapsed.
The new chairman, a former middle distances runner, is the immediate past vice-chairman of the athletics association in the state and current board member of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).
In a letter of appointment endorsed by the Director of Sports, Bayelsa State Sports Council, Mr. Andrew Aye, the elevation of Oredipe, to the position of chairman followed his contributions towards the development of athletics in the state in the past five years.

Mr. Aye, urged the new athletics association chairman to continue to work with key stakeholders of the game in the state to achieve more progress.
Oredipe, a seasoned broadcaster and currently the director-general, Bayelsa State Government New Media is also the founder of SamKay Athletics Club of Yenagoa.
His club has over the years discovered and nurtured young athletes in track and field who had gone on to represent the state and Nigeria at the national and nternational levels.
