The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has dismissed as “complete falsehood” reports circulating on social media suggesting he had a public disagreement with the President of the Federation Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, during a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Morocco.
The unverified claims alleged that Gusau, was involved in a heated argument with Lekjaa, who is the 1st vice president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), at a meeting held during the recently concluded 35th Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.
“I truly don’t know the origin of this report. Nigeria and Morocco enjoy a very friendly relationship in football, and both countries maintain a warm rapport at the governmental level as well.
“Personally, I have always had a good relationship with Mr. Lekjaa.
There was no shouting match, nor were there any insults exchanged. Whoever created that report is spreading complete falsehood,” he said.

Gusau also denied making any remarks regarding the officiating of the second semi-final of the AFCON between Nigeria and Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on January 14.
“Before the match, I publicly stated that the NFF had no concerns about the officiating. After the match, I made no comments whatsoever, and I am completely puzzled as to how the reporter came up with the story that Mr. Lekjaa and I had a shouting match over my comments on the officiating of the game.
“As far as the NFF is concerned, we only have praise for the Morocco Football Federation, the Local Organizing Committee, the government of Morocco, and the Confederation of African Football for organizing a highly successful AFCON that will be remembered for its glamour and excitement for many years to come,” Gusau added.
