Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has announced the prompt employment of children of deceased servicemen in the state.
The governor made this announcement on Thursday during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
Gov. Fubara stated that the decision reflects the state government’s dedication to supporting the military, other security agencies, and the families of personnel who lost their lives while serving the nation.
He instructed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Benibo Anabraba, to ensure the swift implementation of the employment initiative.
The governor said the action is part of the state’s efforts to provide social and economic assistance to the families of fallen heroes.
Gov. Fubara also mentioned that the state government will continue to collaborate closely with military units in the state by offering welfare and logistical support to enhance their operations.

He expressed appreciation for Nigerian soldiers deployed across various regions, particularly those combating terrorism in the North East, addressing banditry and kidnapping in the North West and North Central, as well as conducting security operations in the South East and South South.
The governor honored the memory of soldiers who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars, the Nigerian Civil War, peacekeeping missions, and recent internal security operations.
Additionally, he praised President Bola Tinubu for enhancing military welfare, supplying modern equipment, and bolstering efforts to address security challenges across the country.
Earlier, Kuu Aminkipo Promise, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in Rivers State, expressed gratitude to the governor for his ongoing support and highlighted the launch of the 2026 Emblem Appeal Fund, which received a ₦100 million contribution from the governor.
