Senator Ned Nwoko has reacted to his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, who recently denied allegations of drug use. He asserted that a single negative test does not demonstrate ongoing sobriety or invalidate previous assessments.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) by his communication team, the senator noted that temporary abstinence should not be confused with true recovery or accountability.
His team highlighted that real rehabilitation necessitates continuous professional support, honesty, and a long-term commitment, rather than relying on a single test or social media statements.
They also raised concerns about the conditions under which Daniels’ recent drug test was conducted, pointing out that previous reports of drug and alcohol use were compiled by independent and reputable centers in Nigeria and South Africa.
The statement indicated that these assessments were professionally documented and will be presented and defended in court, with the laboratories expected to testify regarding their findings.
It was argued that using a later negative test as evidence of no prior drug use is misleading. At best, it indicates a brief period of abstinence and does not negate earlier medical reports or the reasons for intervention.
The team further emphasized that substances like MDMA, commonly referred to as Molly, should not be trivialized through casual references or renaming.
According to Nwoko’s team, temporary abstinence does not resolve the underlying issues that led to their public dispute.
They stated that healing cannot be episodic, and accountability must involve facing the reality of the situation and committing to ongoing professional support rather than engaging in performative actions online.
The senator also referenced a previous court ruling in his favor, which dismissed all unfounded human rights claims made by Daniels last year.
Nwoko’s team mentioned that he chose to keep the matter private to allow Daniels to seek help discreetly while maintaining a meaningful relationship with their children.
The statement emphasized that a single test, taken at one’s discretion, does not outweigh independently documented assessments.
They added that any drug test, including Daniels’, will be subject to court examination and must be verifiable if subpoenaed.
The court may appoint a credible laboratory to validate any claims.
Nwoko’s team concluded that the situation requires “reality supported by relevant, credible, and admissible evidence,” rather than social media theatrics.
