The Nigeria Super Eagles have dismissed rumors and speculation about discord within the team following their 4-0 victory over Mozambique’s Mambas on Monday night, which secured their place in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Striker Victor Osimhen was observed making gestures to team mate Ademola Lookman just before a corner kick, leading to various interpretations in both traditional and social media.
“There is absolutely no problem in our camp. What some perceived as a crisis between two teammates was resolved within a few hours. Everything is fine, and we are currently in training,” confirmed Team Administrator Dayo Enebi Achor on Tuesday evening.
Achor also refuted claims that striker Jerome Akor Adams, who scored his first-ever AFCON goal during the match, had left the team camp. “He asked for permission to visit his mother, who was hospitalized here in Fès, and returned in less than an hour.”

Deputy captain Osimhen scored two goals in the match, bringing his total to 34 goals in 50 appearances for Nigeria, just three shy of the national record of 37 goals held by the late Rashidi Yekini.
Ademola Lookman, who had already contributed two goals and two assists in previous matches against Tanzania and Tunisia, added another goal and three impressive assists during the game.
All 26 players available (with young defender Ryan Alebiosu still recovering) participated in Tuesday evening’s training session at the Sardienne Complex.
The three-time champions will travel to Marrakech on Thursday, where they will face the winner of the match between Algeria’s Fennecs and DR Congo’s Leopards in the quarter-final scheduled for Saturday at 5 PM.
