Boxer Anthony Joshua who was discharged from hospital on Wednesday, alongside his mother visited the funeral home in Lagos to pay their last respects to his two deceased friends, who are being prepared for repatriation later this evening.
This follows a car accident that claimed the lives of two of his friends of the heavyweight champion, according to officials.
Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele lost their lives when the vehicle they were in, along with Joshua, collided with a parked truck on a major road near Lagos on Monday.
Joshua, a former heavyweight champion, suffered injuries but was released on Wednesday, as confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso.
In a joint statement with the Ogun State government, which he shared on X, Omotoso mentioned that Joshua was “considered clinically fit to recover at home.”

Ghani and Ayodele were not only long-time friends of Joshua but also played significant roles in his career, with Ghami serving as his strength and conditioning coach and Ayodele as a trainer.
Joshua, who was born in Watford to Nigerian parents, was in Nigeria on vacation after his victory over Jake Paul in Miami on December 19.
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who has represented the 36-year-old Joshua since his professional debut following his gold medal win at the London 2012 Olympics, shared on Instagram: “Rest in peace Latz and Sina. Your energy and loyalty, among many other wonderful traits, will be profoundly missed.
“Sending prayers for strength and guidance to all their family, friends, and of course AJ during this challenging time.”
Retired cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew, two-time undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, former British heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, and former world champion Wladimir Klitschko have also expressed their condolences.
