Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Deltans to use the 2025 Christmas celebration as a period of renewed commitment to love, unity and Christ-like living, stressing that these virtues remain essential for peace and sustainable development in the state.

In a Christmas goodwill message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor described the yuletide as a season for deep reflection, urging residents to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, compassion and selfless service as exemplified by Jesus Christ, in order to foster harmony and collective progress.

Governor Oborevwori praised the people of Delta State for their resilience, unity and continued support for his administration, noting that their cooperation has played a significant role in the achievements recorded so far.

He said the Christmas season provides an opportunity for thanksgiving and renewed hope, reassuring Deltans that his administration remains fully committed to good governance and inclusive development in line with the MORE Agenda.

The governor highlighted key accomplishments recorded in the last two years and beyond, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, agriculture and security.

According to him, the ongoing construction of major roads and flyovers across the state, upgrades in primary and secondary healthcare facilities, and sustained investments in human capital development reflect his administration’s determination to improve the wellbeing of Deltans.

Governor Oborevwori also acknowledged progress in workers’ welfare, peacebuilding initiatives and social intervention programmes targeted at vulnerable groups such as widows, women and youths, adding that these efforts have contributed to stability and increased economic activities across the state.

Assuring residents of better days ahead, the governor disclosed that the 2026 Delta State budget makes robust provisions aimed at further improving the living standards of the people.

He explained that the budget prioritises infrastructure development, job creation, education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment to drive sustainable growth and shared prosperity across all parts of the state.

Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented policies and projects, assuring that no community would be neglected in the state’s development drive.

He urged Deltans to continue supporting his administration while promoting peace, tolerance and unity, noting that collective responsibility remains key to achieving the state’s long-term development goals.

While wishing residents a joyous Christmas celebration, the governor prayed for a peaceful and prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that Delta State would experience greater progress and economic opportunities in the years ahead.

“Christmas is a reminder of hope and the victory of light over darkness. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, let us work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Delta State for present and future generations,” the statement concluded.
