Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has strongly condemned a suicide attack at a mosque in Gomboru Market, Maiduguri, which claimed five lives and left 35 others injured on Wednesday evening.
The attack occurred during Maghrib prayers when a suspected suicide bomber reportedly gained access to the mosque and detonated an explosive device among worshippers.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum expressed deep sorrow over the incident and described the attack as “utterly condemnable, barbaric and inhumane.”
“Attacking a place of worship is a desecration of the sanctity of the mosque at a time when Muslim faithful are performing acts of worship,” the governor said.

He assured residents that the state government has put adequate security measures in place to prevent further breaches during the festivities and beyond.
