The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rolled out a massive show of force across Abuja, stepping up visibility and confidence-building patrols ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The operation, carried out on December 23, 2025, was aimed at reassuring residents, deterring criminal activity and demonstrating the Command’s readiness to secure lives and property during the busy festive period.
Strategic locations across the metropolis were covered, including Wuse Market, Garki Area 10, Area 1, Garki Modern Market, Durumi, Berger, Maitama and Mabushi, among others. Police presence was deliberately heightened around commercial hubs, residential areas, worship centres, recreational spots and major transport corridors.
The patrol was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Isyaku Sharu, with officers and operational assets deployed to identified flashpoints and public spaces across the city, according to the statement signed on Tuesday by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command.

Police authorities said the exercise was part of sustained efforts to ensure Abuja remains safe, especially as residents and visitors move around in large numbers during the holidays.
The show of force follows a recent joint patrol by the FCT Commissioner of Police and his Kaduna State counterpart along the Jere–Abuja Highway, highlighting ongoing inter-command collaboration to secure key entry routes into the nation’s capital.
The Command assured residents of adequate and proactive security coverage throughout the festive season, while urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities promptly.
