Anthony Joshua is poised to lose a significant amount of his earnings following his high-profile heavyweight exhibition match against Jake Paul in Miami, Florida.

Although he reportedly earned $92 million from the fight, the British boxer is facing an estimated $66 million in combined taxes from the US and UK, leaving him with around $74 million from his total purse of $140 million.

The match, held on Friday night at the Kaseya Center, saw Joshua dominate Paul, ultimately delivering a powerful right hand in the sixth round that fractured the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s jaw in two places, ending Paul’s undefeated streak.

Joshua knocked Paul down in the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds before finishing the fight at 1:31 of the sixth round. The event was livestreamed by Netflix.

Since the fight took place in the United States, Joshua will owe approximately $52 million in federal income tax.

Additionally, he is expected to pay around $11.3 million to His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs in the UK, along with $2.8 million in National Insurance contributions.

Florida’s lack of state income tax offers little relief. In contrast, Paul will only pay US taxes, which means he is likely to keep more of his $92 million earnings than Joshua.

After the fight, Jake Paul received a mandatory medical suspension of at least 45 days from the Florida State Athletic Commission due to his knockout.

Joshua will also face a mandatory seven-day suspension. Paul’s jaw injuries are anticipated to take four to six weeks to heal completely, with the suspension possibly extended based on medical advice.

This victory brings Joshua’s professional record to 29 wins out of 33 fights, marking a successful return after his loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium last September.

Following the win, Joshua called out fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury, hinting at a possible matchup in 2026, while Paul expressed interest in challenging Canelo Álvarez in the near future.
