President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has advised Nigerians to exercise moderation, particularly in alcohol consumption, during the Christmas celebrations, stressing that the festive season should be marked by peace, safety and gratitude rather than excess.
The President gave the advice on Sunday, December 21, while addressing reporters at his residence in Lagos State, where he also spoke on national security and his administration’s efforts to tackle banditry and terrorism across the country.
Tinubu called on Nigerians to embrace a calm and responsible spirit during the holidays, expressing optimism that the season would pass without incident. He urged citizens to celebrate in ways that protect lives and promote harmony within families and communities.
According to the President, the nation is on a steady path of progress despite current challenges, assuring Nigerians that his government remains committed to restoring security and stability. He said the Christmas period would not bring disaster to the country and encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and prayerful.

Tinubu further assured that Nigeria would overcome banditry and terrorism, describing peace as central to both celebration and national development. The President concluded by offering prayers for Lagos State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, expressing confidence that divine blessings and collective responsibility would guide the country toward greater stability and unity.
