Actress Ini Edo became emotional during an Instagram Live session after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) threatened to remove her film, “A Very Dirty Christmas,” arguing that the title was disrespectful to Christianity.
Ini Edo clarified that the movie was a heartfelt project, created with passion and extensive promotion.
Addressing her followers, she stressed that she and her team are all Christians and that the controversy surrounding the film’s title was never intended to offend anyone.
She stated, “I made this movie. I invested my time and effort into it. We promoted it for a long time. If anyone had raised concerns at any point, we would have reconsidered. We are all Christians on this team.”

The actress also expressed her apologies to CAN, emphasizing that she never intended to insult the faith.
“If I had known that the title ‘A Very Dirty Christmas’ would create an issue, I would have changed it. CAN, I apologize. I never meant to offend or disgrace Christians. I am a Christian as well,” Ini Edo said, visibly emotional.
She further pleaded, “Please don’t take my film down. Just let people watch it. After watching, if anyone feels that this film disrespects Christians or Christianity, then I will consider pulling it.”
The situation has ignited a heated discussion online, with many Nigerians commenting on CAN’s response and questioning the association’s focus.
