Russian Officials have reported that a Russian general was killed in a car bombing in Moscow.
According to Russia’s Investigative Committee, Lt Gen Fanil Sarvarov lost his life today (Monday) morning when an explosive device placed under a vehicle exploded.
Sarvarov, 56, was the head of the operational training department of the armed forces.
The committee mentioned that one line of inquiry is that the bomb may have been planted with the assistance of Ukrainian intelligence services, although Ukraine has not responded to this claim.
Investigators are currently at the site, which is located in a parking lot near an apartment building in the southern part of the capital. Photos from the scene depict a severely damaged white car with blown-out doors, surrounded by other vehicles in the parking area.

Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, several military officials have been targeted in Moscow.
In April, Gen Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a car bombing, and Gen Igor Kirillov died in December 2024 when a device concealed in a scooter was detonated remotely.
A Ukrainian source later informed the BBC that Kirillov was killed by Ukraine’s security service, but this has never been officially confirmed.
As a policy, Ukraine does not publicly acknowledge or take responsibility for targeted attacks.
