Justice Mariam Hassan of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Gwarinpa has ordered that a former Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, should continue to enjoy the administrative bail earlier granted to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
However, the court imposed additional conditions, directing Ngige to produce a surety who must be a director in the employment of the Federal Government and possess verifiable landed property.
The court further ordered that the surety deposit the documents of the landed property as well as travel documents with the court, pending the conclusion of processes for the retrieval of Ngige’s international passport.
The EFCC had initially granted the former minister bail on self-recognition, with the condition that he submit his travel documents and provide one surety.

Ngige, a former governor of Anambra State, had earlier been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre following his arraignment.
He is facing an eight-count charge bordering on alleged corrupt practices involving the sum of ₦2.2 billion. According to the charge dated October 31 and filed on December 9 by a prosecution team led by Sylvanus Tahir (SAN), the alleged offences were committed while Ngige served as Minister of Labour and Employment under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former minister pleaded not guilty to all the charges, and the matter has been adjourned for further proceedings.
