Civil servants across Akwa Ibom State, including local government employees, have received their 13th month salary, popularly tagged “Enomber,” barely eight days to Christmas, in line with the promise made by Governor Umo Eno.
The development was disclosed recently by the State Accountant-General, Pastor Uwem Andrew Essien in Uyo. He said the payment was approved to enable workers to enjoy the Yuletide season with ease.
According to him, the payment commenced on December 16, 2025, ahead of the December 20 deadline earlier announced by the governor.
“Ahead of the Christmas celebration, Akwa Ibom workers have received their 13th month salary to enable them to prepare for the universal celebration,” Essien said. “This is in fulfillment of the promise made by Governor Umo Eno on Sunday, November 30, 2025, that workers would receive their 13th month salary before December 20.”
The gesture has been met with widespread appreciation from workers across the state.
Imediuwem Okon Thompson, a local government employee in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, described the payment as a timely intervention that has transformed the festive season for many families.
“The governor has turned what could have been a difficult Christmas and New Year celebration into a joyous one for our families and friends. We thank the talk-and-do governor for bringing happiness into our homes during this special season,” he said.

Similarly, Enobong Bassey, a senior civil servant at the Idongesit Nkanga State Secretariat in Uyo, noted that workers in the state have consistently enjoyed the 13th month salary and other welfare packages since Governor Eno assumed office in 2023.
“These gestures have earned him the reputation of a worker-friendly governor,” Bassey said.
Also expressing gratitude, a public school teacher, Affiong Inyang, prayed for continued blessings on the governor for his consistent concern for the welfare of civil servants and residents of the state amid prevailing economic challenges.
“May God continue to bless and keep him for always remembering the people and the hardships they face in these trying times,” she said.
