Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and announced his defection to the Accord Party, ending months of speculation over his political future.
Adeleke, in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, Ede North Local Government Area, said he exited the party on November 4 due to what he described as an “unresolved national leadership crisis” rocking the PDP.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the governor wrote.
He thanked the PDP for providing him the platform that propelled his rise from Senator representing Osun West to state governor, but insisted the internal turmoil had become unbearable.

“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator and as Governor of Osun State,” Adeleke stated.
The governor, who had maintained silence since tendering his resignation, on Tuesday made his next move public, declaring his alignment with the Accord Party. His announcement confirms weeks of speculation and insider hints of talks between the governor and Accord leaders.
Adeleke’s defection marks a major realignment in Osun politics and sets the stage for a fresh battle ahead of the 2026 governorship race, where he is expected to seek a second term on his new platform.
