The defense partnership between Nigeria and India received a notable enhancement when Colonel Manoj Singh, the Indian Defense Adviser to Nigeria, visited the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Waidi Shaibu, at the army headquarters in Abuja.
This information was shared in a statement issued by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Apollonia Anele, on December 9, 2025.
The statement highlighted that the visit reinforced both countries’ commitment to enhancing military cooperation and advancing mutual security interests.

During his visit, Colonel Singh praised the Nigerian Army for its ongoing efforts to address security challenges across the country and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received.
He emphasized India’s readiness to expand defense cooperation, increase training opportunities for Nigerian Army personnel, and enhance technical exchanges in areas of mutual interest.
Responding, Lt. General Shaibu underscored the significance of maintaining a lasting partnership with the Indian Armed Forces.
He acknowledged India’s long-term support in military training, capacity building, and defense development as invaluable, and emphasized the need to further improve collaboration in counter-terrorism operations, intelligence sharing, equipment support, and professional military education.
