The body of a twenty seven year old man, identified as Alagbe Gbemisoye, was recovered on Wednesday from a deep well in the Ire Akari and Adeniran area of Ogbomoso in Oyo State. Residents who noticed the situation raised an alarm and contacted the Oyo State Fire Service, which sent a rescue team to the scene at once. The circumstances that led to his fall were still unclear at the time of the report.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Reforms and Chairman of the Fire Services, Moroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident. He explained that his office received a distress call from a resident, supported by information from one Mr Ajayi Olayemi. A team led by CFM Oladejo was dispatched for the operation and found the victim at the bottom of the well.

According to Akinwande, the body was retrieved carefully and handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of Owode Police Station for further investigation. He appealed to residents to take greater care with safety around homes and public spaces. He also reminded the public of the need for functional fire extinguishers in buildings as part of wider safety precautions.
