Security operatives have eliminated the gang responsible for the recent murder of a palm wine tapper in Delta State, bringing an end to a violent streak that spread across parts of Edo and Delta. The operation, coordinated through Safe City Hydra intelligence, led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and several mobile phones at the criminals’ hideout.
Investigators had tracked the group from Auchi after a series of abductions. The men fled to Ekpoma, diverted toward the Uromi and Ewohimi axis, and later crossed into Igbodo in Delta State. It was there they kidnapped a woman, collected ransom, and released her. She has since identified the attackers.
According to security sources, the same gang had earlier abducted a man in Emuhu, seized two palm wine tappers, and killed one victim when ransom payments failed. They later escaped through Abavo and slipped into Urhonigbe in Edo North using the railway corridor.

Four days ago, the Safe City team arrived in Obiaruku with support from the Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government, Hon. Possible Ajede. He provided personnel from the State Command SACU as well as two civilian anti-cult operatives to reinforce the mission.
After a series of air surveillance runs, operatives moved in earlier today and stormed the hideout. The suspects were neutralized during the exchange, and the recovered rifle was secured as evidence.
Hon. Ajede received commendation for his steady support and direct involvement in the operation. The foundation also acknowledged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator Monday Okpebholo for their roles in strengthening security mobilization across the region.
The Safe City Volunteer Foundation stated that it will continue to work with community leaders and security agencies to curb violent crime and improve local safety.
