Host communities to Conoil Producing PLC in Delta State, operating under the OML 150 Communities’ Consultative Forum, have issued a stern warning that they may compel a newly deployed rig to vacate the company’s operational base in Warri Federal Constituency.
The Forum’s Secretary, Oritseweyinmi Emmanuel Agbonekuya Aginejuone, issued the threat during a telephone conversation with Fresh Angle International on Wednesday, November 26. He accused Conoil Producing PLC of recruiting 300 workers without consulting or involving the host communities, describing the company’s actions as divisive.

Aginejuone expressed strong displeasure, stating:
“We are vehemently going against the action of Conoil. We have made up our mind to wait from now (Wednesday) till tomorrow, Thursday. We will force the rig to leave.”
He added that the communities have been engaged in a peaceful protest and would continue until Conoil addresses their “legitimate agitation” by properly engaging with the host communities.
According to him, the communities are resolute and will not back down until their concerns are fully addressed.
