The Defence Headquarters has addressed an alleged fake video that features a manipulated image of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede.
The misleading video falsely attributes a statement to him, claiming that the military plans to forcibly recruit young Nigerians aged 18 and older against their will.
This information was shared in a post by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Samaila Uba, on its official X account on November 22, 2025.
The post states that the fabricated statement and video are clearly intended to damage the reputation of the chief of defence staff and could harm the military’s image.
“The military is a respected profession, with many patriotic Nigerians eager to enlist, as seen during various recruitment campaigns for the three branches of the Nigerian military.
