The Gongola People’s Forum (GPF) has presented two reports on the clashes that recently occurred in Demsa and Lamurde Local Government Areas of Adamawa State to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

Presenting the reports to Gov. Fintiri at the Government House, Yola, the National Chairman of GPF, Markus Gundiri, said the findings of the committee set up by the forum on September 14, 2025, are profound and the recommendations are based on instilling a lasting solution in the areas where the clashes occurred.

Gundiri commended the governor for keeping his promise to give the committee the necessary support to discharge its duty to restore peace in the areas affected by the crisis.

“Your Excellency, before we commenced this committee’s work, we were in contact with you and we got your approval as the chief executive of the state with the promise to give us all the necessary support to achieve peace in those areas.

“We want to appreciate you profoundly for keeping your promise and again commend your excellent work in the state not only for peace, but for the amazing development the state has recorded under your leadership,” he said.

The GPF national chairman informed Gov. Fintiri that the forum has confidence in his administration, and will continue to work with his administration throughout his period in office for the progress, development and peace of the state.

“I want to stress that you have done what no governor, even under the defunct military regimes dared to do by creating new chiefdoms and emirates in the state that was literally owned by one minority tribe, while the majority indigenous ethnic nationalities looked on helplessly.

“It is in this vein that we employ you as our leader to quickly give the reports the desired attention to assuage the sufferings of the victims of the crises,” he added.

Responding, Gov. Fintiri commended the GPF and the committee members for their quick intervention, and urged them to make sure other volatile areas of conflict are quickly reached for resolution to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and property.

The governor said that he has achieved what he has done in the state because he was able to achieve peace first.

He therefore directed his Chief of Staff, Amos Edgar, to set up a committee to harmonize all the reports on the same issues for quick implementation by the state government.
