Nigeria’s digital traffic map has taken on a sharper outline following the latest Semrush ranking, which places Google, Wikipedia and Xvideos at the top of the country’s most-visited websites. The new data reflects the habits of millions of local users and shows how strongly global platforms still dominate Nigeria’s online landscape.

According to the report, Google maintains a firm lead through its wide search volume and daily utility. Wikipedia follows with steady research-driven traffic, while Xvideos holds the third position, a reminder of the sharp pull of adult platforms on general web activity.

Other sites in the top tier include Facebook, BBC, Instagram and major betting platforms, which continue to attract large followings due to news, entertainment and sports interests.

Alongside the global giants, local outlets also recorded movement. Trumpet.ng, which has been expanding its digital presence, climbed to roughly the 17,000th position in Nigeria from its 127,000th position in January 2025. The rise marks a meaningful step for a homegrown news brand seeking a firmer place in a crowded market.

The broad pattern of the ranking shows that search engines, social platforms and streaming sites remain central to Nigerian browsing behaviour. It also highlights how competitive the field has become for local publishers working to raise visibility and draw consistent readership.
