Nigerian shot putter Ogochukwu Ogili has won a silver medal in the women’s shot put event at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
Ogili showcased a steady and confident performance throughout all six rounds on Tuesday, gaining momentum as the competition unfolded.
She started with a throw of 6.94m and achieved her best throw of 7.35m in the third round, which secured her spot on the podium.
This medal represents Nigeria’s second in athletics at the Games, following Obiageri Amaechi’s earlier silver in the discus event.

The gold medal was awarded to Bahrain’s Rooba Alomari, who made a winning throw of 7.39m in the second-to-last round, just edging out Ogili. Saudi Arabia’s Nadha Alhumayolani took home the Bronze with a top throw of 6.13m.
In other events, Patience Okon George finished second in her heat of the women’s 400m, recording a time of 52.91 seconds.
She was behind Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser, who won the heat in 52.13 seconds, while Morocco’s Salma Lehlali came in third with a time of 53.26 seconds.
