The Wike-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Governors Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed, and Dauda Lawal of Oyo, Bauchi, and Zamfara States.

Others expelled are the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara, Senator Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, and several others for anti-party activities.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Wike faction, at its 103rd meeting at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, also ratified the dissolution of State Executive Councils in Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, Edo, and Ekiti States.

Acting National Chairman of the Wike faction, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, who presented the memo for the expulsions, accused the affected members of defying court orders, actions he said had “brought the party into disrepute.”

In a communique read by embattled National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Wike faction’s NEC said: “The NEC convened to uphold truth, justice, discipline, and respect for the rule of law.

“It is deeply concerned over members who violated subsisting court orders by organising and attending a purported and unauthorised convention, triggering confusion, factionalisation, and defections nationwide.”

The committee approved disciplinary procedures against 17 party stalwarts, including Olabode George, Ben Obi, Setonji Koshoedo, Okechukwu Daniel, and Udom Emmanuel.

Chief Ali Odefa was also directed to refund all salaries and allowances collected after his December 2024 expulsion.

The Wike faction’s NEC further ratified Chidiebere Goodluck as acting National Vice Chairman (South East) and ordered the National Working Committee (NWC) to set up caretaker committees for dissolved state executives and commence fresh congresses immediately.

In addition, the NEC confirmed Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman as acting national chairman and directed legal teams to recover seats of all elected officials who defected from the party, citing Sections 68(1)(g) and 109(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution.

The communique stressed a nationwide reconciliation initiative and membership audit ahead of the 2027 elections, warning that the era of indiscipline in the PDP is over.

BoT Chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa and Abdulrahman urged members to remain steadfast, expressing confidence that the Wike faction of the PDP will overcome its internal crises and rebuild stronger ahead of the next electoral cycle.
