Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged one hundred postgraduate students heading to Turkey on state-funded scholarships to uphold discipline and carry the image of the state with pride as they begin their studies abroad. His message was delivered by the deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, during a pre-departure briefing held on Monday at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Yola.
The governor restated his commitment to strengthening education and building skilled manpower for the state. He advised the beneficiaries to remain attentive to their academic responsibilities and stay clear of behaviour that could threaten their progress or undermine the purpose of the programme. He reminded them that their primary duty is to learn and to serve as reliable representatives of their families and communities.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Umar Garba Pella, said the one hundred students were drawn from all twenty-one local government areas under the “Fintiri Win Project.” He explained that they were chosen from more than five thousand applicants after a stringent merit-based process. The programme covers specialised fields in Engineering, ICT, Architecture, and Medical Sciences.

Dr Pella encouraged the scholars to obey regulations, manage their time wisely, and treat the opportunity as a turning point in their lives. His remarks were echoed by the Executive Director of the Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund, Dr Joshua Kwanamu, who described the event as a landmark in the state’s steady investment in education. He credited Governor Fintiri’s policies for recent gains in training and institutional development.
Mallam Salihu Sabana, speaking for the parents, praised the administration for prioritising young people and giving families renewed hope. He pledged continued support from the home front to ensure that the students remain focused and justify the resources committed to them.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Trust Joseph thanked the government for its confidence in the youths. He said the scholarship represents an uncommon chance to grow academically and to prepare for roles that can influence the state’s future.
