United Nigeria Airlines has issued an official statement confirming that social media personality VeryDarkMan and comedian Mr Jollof were deboarded and handed over to airport security after a disruptive altercation during the boarding of Flight UNO523 at Asaba International Airport on Monday, November 17.
According to the airline, the incident unfolded as passengers prepared to board the Lagos-bound flight. Crew members intervened after tensions escalated between the two men, prompting an immediate safety response in line with global aviation protocols. Both passengers were removed from the aircraft to protect the safety and comfort of others on board before being transferred to airport authorities for investigation.
The airline stressed that safety remains its highest priority and noted its zero-tolerance policy for behaviour that threatens the security or wellbeing of passengers or staff. Officials confirmed that the flight later departed without further incident, while the individuals involved remained with security agents.
United Nigeria Airlines stated that its crew acted swiftly and professionally, emphasising that such response procedures are standard in any situation that may compromise order in the cabin or at the boarding gate. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a secure travel environment across all routes.

The statement marks the airline’s first formal comment since viral videos of the confrontation circulated widely on social media, drawing national attention and renewed debate over rising cases of unruly passenger conduct. Aviation analysts have noted that early intervention by crew members is essential in preventing disruptions from affecting flight operations.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority is expected to review reports from the airline and airport security as part of its regulatory process. In past cases, similar incidents have resulted in fines, temporary flight restrictions and other sanctions for passengers found to have violated aviation safety rules.
United Nigeria Airlines says it will continue to cooperate fully with authorities while maintaining its message to travelers: safety procedures are non-negotiable, and all disruptions will be addressed decisively to protect passengers and crew.
