Legendary American rapper Onika Maraj-Petty, known as Nicki Minaj, is set to speak at a United Nations event in New York on Tuesday, where she will address the reported jihadist attacks on Christians in Nigeria.
Michael Waltz, the US ambassador to the UN, and Alex Bruesewitz, the event’s organizer and former president Donald Trump’s adviser, will join Minaj.
This news was first reported on Sunday evening by Eric Cortellessa, a senior political correspondent for Time magazine, via his X account.
Ambassador Waltz confirmed the report and praised Minaj, calling her “arguably the greatest female recording artist” and a principled person who refuses to stay silent in the face of injustice.
He expressed gratitude that she is using her platform to shed light on what he termed “atrocities against Christians in Nigeria.”
Responding to Waltz’s remarks, Minaj expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized that she takes this responsibility seriously.
