The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 40-year-old man suspected of trafficking young girls to Ghana for sexual exploitation, marking what the Command described as another major breakthrough in its fight against human trafficking.
The arrest, which took place on November 12, 2025, was disclosed on Thursday in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
According to the statement, the suspect, Hamza Hammantukur Isa of Bauchi Street in Yola North Local Government Area, was apprehended by operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) following credible intelligence reports.
Isa, according to the police, allegedly lured his victims with false promises of lucrative job opportunities abroad.
During the operation, police rescued two young female victims, aged 18 and 19, who were found unharmed.

The Command revealed that preliminary investigations show Isa has been involved in trafficking activities since 2023.
He reportedly confessed to trafficking at least 10 girls to Ghana with the assistance of two female accomplices, who are currently at large.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the accomplices and identify additional victims, the police said, assuring the public of a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the SID operatives for their swift response and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and rights of residents. He assured that all individuals connected to the case will be brought to justice.
