‎The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has called for unity and restraint among party members.

The party said it’s addressing this critical message to all members and supporters in the state, particularly in light of the recent discussions following the Anambra State governorship election held last Saturday.

It stated that the ADC, which is built on the principles of unity, integrity, and progress, remains committed to fostering a culture of respect and cooperation among its members and coalition partners.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the state Publicity Secretary, Chief Macdonald Amadi, and made available to journalists.
‎
“We have taken note of certain discussions circulating within our ranks regarding the performance of Mr. Peter Obi, a respected member of our coalition and a distinguished Nigerian statesman, in the recent Anambra State governorship election.

“Specifically, we are aware that some members have been discussing the outcome of the election in certain wards and local government areas, with particular reference to Mr. Obi’s performance.

“We understand that these discussions may stem from a place of passion and commitment to our party.

“Such discussions, if not carefully managed, could potentially destabilize our party and undermine the unity we have worked tirelessly to build, the party said.

‎
‎It therefore urged all ADC members in the state to exercise restraint and refrain from making comments or engaging in discussions that could be perceived as derogatory to Mr. Peter Obi or any other member of the coalition.

“We must prioritize the unity and integrity of our party, particularly as we approach future electoral challenges.

“We are committed to building a stronger, more united, and more effective political platform that serves the interests of our people and the nation.
‎
‎”As we move forward, our focus remains on strengthening our party structures, enhancing our grassroots support, and developing policies that address the needs and aspirations of our people.

“We will continue to engage with our members, coalition partners, and the broader community to ensure that our party remains a beacon of hope and progress in Imo State and beyond.
‎
‎”We call on all ADC members in Imo State to stand together in this moment and to support our party’s efforts to build a better future for our state and nation.

“Let us reject any form of divisive rhetoric or behavior that could undermine our collective progress. Together, we can achieve great things and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our people” the party added.
