A two-year-old boy, identified as Danjuma Salman, has died after falling into a well at Bajallabe in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif, the agency received a distress call at about 10:05 a.m. from one Saminu Dayyabu, reporting that a child had fallen into a damaged well in the area.
“Upon receiving the call, our emergency response team from the headquarters was immediately mobilized to the scene. On arrival, they found a two-year-old boy, Danjuma Salman, who had fallen into the well whose lid was damaged,” the statement read.

Yusif said the rescue team successfully pulled the child out of the well unconscious, but he was later confirmed dead, while the body was subsequently handed over to his father, Salman Dayyabu.
He advised residents to ensure that wells within their surroundings are securely covered to prevent similar tragedies.
This sad incident comes barely days after similar occurrences in the state, where an eight-year-old girl, identified as Zara’u Muhammad and a six-year-old boy, Ahmad Abdurashid, also lost their lives after falling into a well in separate incidents.
