A group of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members on Thursday gathered at the US Embassy in Abuja, protesting what they claimed was the attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to suppress opposition political parties and establish a one-party system.
The protest follows alarming statements made by US President Donald Trump, who claimed that genocide is occurring in Nigeria, drawing significant global attention to the situation.
The demonstrators are calling for international support to protect Nigeria’s democracy and prevent a shift toward a one-party system.

They also delivered protest letters to the US Embassy, the European Union complex, and the Ministry of Justice.
The protesters carried signs urging the international community and the Ministry of Justice to intervene and defend Nigeria’s democratic processes and judiciary.
They accuse the ruling party of using intimidation tactics against opposition members.
The PDP has been facing internal turmoil for over two years, with party leaders recently engaging in mutual suspensions.
