The Chairman Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba has reassured the people that his administration will minimize partial flooding ravaging communities, particularly in Ozoro, headquarters of the local government area.
Ogorugba made this known on Sunday, October 26, 2025, while addressing the press during the supervision of the ongoing one-week special environmental sanitation exercise in Ozoro.
He said: “This one-week sanitation exercise is to ensure the total drain de-silting/evacuation of debris at Ozoro Owhelogbo drainage system for the free flow of water to the carnal, in order to minimize partial flooding within the Ozoro community.
“His Excellency, Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State has serious concerns about health and environmental conditions for all Deltans, hence my administration is consolidating on it by making Isoko North Local Government Area the best and most cleanest and safest local government in Delta State,” he declared.
The chairman frowned at the attitude of some developers who dump sands in the drains in order to get access to their site/house.
He said the council will no longer tolerate anybody dumping sand or refuse inside drains or very close to the drain to be washed in by erosion.
The chairman also directed the environmental department to serve abatement notice to every household who connects their sewage pipe directly into the drainages, thereby causing environmental hazard.

He said that offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with state and council environmental laws.
The Supervisor for Environment, Joshua Alebe appreciated the council boss for making his policy of operation keep Isoko North clean visible for Isoko North people.
He commended community leaders for working in synergy with the local government in keeping their environment clean for healthy living.
The Oletu of Urude Community Mr. Peter Omanudhowo thanked the council chairman for always carrying out people -oriented policies and programmes, saying the blockage of drains has been a nightmare for the residents of Urude community.
He revealed that the blocked drains has over the years led to the partial flooding of home and breeding ground mosquitoes.
